Letter from the Editor: A hard goodbye

Dear Skyhawks,

The time has come, and our last edition of the 2025-2026 school year has been published. This year has flown by, as has my time on The Summit staff. Towards the end of my sophomore year, I made the decision, with the help of Professor Maureen Boyle, to push myself outside my comfort zone and join The Summit staff. That was the best decision I made during my four years here.

The Summit not only pushed me to be a better writer but also made me a better leader and listener, two of many valuable lessons. When I stepped into the editor-in-chief role, I was nervous and unsure of what to expect. This year, members of the staff have so much to be proud of.

Stonehill taught me so much about myself and allowed me to grow into the person I am today. I have worn a lot of hats during my four years here, including serving as a Career Ambassador in the Career Development Center since 2024, serving as News Editor, and then Editor-in-Chief of The Summit, and being a four-year member of the varsity ice hockey team.

Upon graduating in May, my next journey will begin soon after when I leave to play professional hockey in Sweden for Linköping in the top Swedish women's league. During my time there, I hope to keep writing and documenting my journey.

As we put the staff together for next school year, I am thrilled to say that Annie Renz will be the next Editor-in-Chief. As a member of the varsity women's soccer team and our current Sports Editor, I have been fortunate to work very closely with Annie over the past year and to get to know such a kind, devoted, and hard-working person. I have no doubt that she will continue the great work The Summit has done.

I want to thank all our staff who have devoted countless hours throughout the year to ensure that every print is published on time, even during the most stressful times of the school year. Your hard work and dedication were much appreciated.

Last but certainly not least, I would like to thank Professor Boyle for believing in me and my writing abilities, and for trusting me to lead the staff this past year. Without her, my writing abilities would not have excelled nearly as much, and I would not have found something I am so passionate about and something that is going to be so hard to say goodbye to.

Thank you for reading The Summit this year and for your continued support of the work we do. I cannot wait to see what The Summit does next year and what new stories it will cover. Have a great rest of the semester!
