Letter from the Editor: Happy March!

Dear Skyhawks,

We hope everyone is staying warm this winter. Last month, the groundhog predicted six more weeks of winter, and the weather has definitely lived up to that. In my four years at Stonehill, this is the only winter I have experienced with snow on the ground nearly the whole time. February was a cold month here on campus, but The Summit staff was hard at work getting the fifth edition ready, and we are excited for you to get your hands on it.

It's hard to believe this is already our second edition of the semester. We had two more snow days since the last edition, as well as a remote day, due to the Blizzard of ‘26. Be sure to check out the articles staff wrote about students' thoughts and the school's plans to make up for lost class time. Also in news, check out the update on the case against a retired religious studies professor.

In the features section, you can find Arianna Campbell's article on the Spring Career Fair hosted by the Career Development Center, as well as other upcoming programs to help seniors secure jobs. Arianna also spoke with many students to get their feelings about classes canceled due to the snowstorm and how professors are making up for the lost class time. We also have an article by Maddie Darmstadt about business majors gaining access to many professional opportunities through the International Business Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma.

In our sports section, Annie Renz made sure to give the rundown of USA Hockey’s historic sweep at the Winter Olympics in Milano. We also have great stories on the Women’s Ice Hockey team competing in post season play, the Baseball team getting stuck in Florida due to the blizzard, and a much-anticipated update on the construction of Bogan Arena. You can find these articles both online and in our print edition around campus.

As always, be sure to follow us @thesummitnews on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and X to stay up to date on all the news we post between print editions. You can also contact us with questions, concerns, or tips on a story. You can also reach out to me directly at machtyl@students.stonehill.edu.

This March issue is the second paper of the Spring semester and can be found in buildings across campus. Our final print issue of the year will be published in April. Until then, we will continue to post articles on our website, summitnews.org, and on social media.

On behalf of the staff, we hope you enjoy this edition of The Summit, and we look forward to bringing you the last edition of the school year next month.

Letter from the Editor: Almost there!
