Student Spotlight: Jenna Grimaldi (Senior Appreciation Week)

By: Justine Long

Q: What are you involved in on campus?

I am a member of Dance Club, Stoneworks Dance Company, and Kappa Delta Pi (Education Honors Society) as the Co-President. I also am a Student Teacher this semester and work at the library on weekends!

Q: What do you do as Co-President?

As Co-President of KDP, I organize and facilitate meetings for all members. During these meetings, we create a space for future educators to share ideas and learn from each other about the field of education.

Q: Student Teaching is a great part of the education department here, how are the circumstances different during COVID-19?

The education seniors are so lucky to be in person getting an interactive experience in the classroom. I am personally teaching using a hybrid model, with half the class in person and the other online. Schools are planning to come back all in person by the end of March, so hopefully, things work out safely.

Q: What is your advice to first-year students?

I would say my biggest piece of advice would be to get involved right away and try new things. There are so many clubs and resources on campus that I wish I joined, but couldn’t because of COVID-19. Really find something that you’re passionate about.

Q: How are you making the most of senior despite the pandemic?

I definitely am appreciating moments on campus more. Being in my suite with my friends safely and in person is something that I’m really grateful for, and we are trying to keep up with fun traditions even though they are not happening in the same capacity.

Q: What are some things you will miss about Stonehill when you graduate?

I am going to miss my friends, the beautiful campus, and especially the community at Stonehill. Dancing, classes, and being at the library are things that I will miss in my regular routine.
