Skyhawks fly past Wagner in 77-64 game

Stonehill women’s basketball kept their strong season rolling last night with a win over Wagner.
The Skyhawks flew past the Seahawks with a 77-64 win with four Stonehill players scoring over 15 points.
The game stayed close in the first quarter, with Wagner ending the quarter with a one-point lead. The Skyhawks fought back to start the second quarter with a 12-0 run and giving them their largest lead of the first half.
Stonehill led 39-34 at halftime and took control of the game in the second half. By the end of the third quarter, the Skyhawks had built an eight-point lead and only continued to build on that lead in the fourth quarter.
Stonehill outscored Wagner 18-13 in the fourth quarter leading them to a 77-64 win.
Senior Sharn Hayward kept her outstanding season going with 20 points, marking her seventh straight game scoring double digits as well as her 22nd game with double digits this season.
Hayward is averaging the second most points per game in the NEC with 16.3 points per game and her 14th time leading the team in scoring this season.
Sophomore Brooke Paquette hit double digits for the fifth game in a row, shooting 7-11 on the night and finishing with 18 points. Freshman Megan Sias ended with 16 points, which was her second-highest-scoring performance in her rookie season.
Graduate Student Kylie Swider scored 15 points, keeping her impressive streak of 11 straight games with double digits this season. The Villanova transfer has been impressive this season, scoring double digits in 18 games this season and being second in rebounds per game in the NEC with 9.1 rebounds per game.
The win kept the Skyhawks hot streak going, marking their fourth straight win and moving them to 9-3 in conference play. The Skyhawks clinched a home playoff game with last night's win and currently sit in second place in the conference.
The Skyhawks will host CCSU tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Merkret Gymnasium for their Play4Kay game to support breast cancer awareness.
