The Cheer and Dance Teams co-host first-ever showcase

By Greta Willis

On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, the Stonehill Cheerleading Team and the Dance Team co-hosted their first-ever team Showcase. Both teams performed several routines for the Skyhawk community as they celebrated their hard work throughout the academic year and proudly sent off the Dance Team to nationals.

The event brought together students, families, and supporters for a night filled with energy, talent, and school spirit, highlighting the dedication of both programs.

The idea of holding a Showcase originally came from cheerleading coach Arianna Gulbis. As she began thinking about what the remainder of the season would look like for the team, she saw an opportunity to create something new and meaningful that would bring both teams together while also engaging the campus community.

“Launching our very first Cheer and Dance Showcase has been such a meaningful experience, especially because it started as just an idea,” shared Gulbis. “Seeing it come to life with all the energy, talent, and school spirit has been incredibly rewarding. This was a perfect opportunity to shine the spotlight on the women of SCC and SCDT, and I really look forward to it becoming an annual event!"

The Showcase not only celebrated the athleticism and artistry of both teams but also allowed the athletes to perform routines they had spent months perfecting. From high-energy cheer stunts to polished dance performances, each routine reflected the commitment, teamwork, and passion that define these student-athletes.

While this may become a new annual tradition for the teams, for some athletes, it marked both a first and final Showcase performance. Two senior athletes on the team, Social Media Manager Greta Willis and Captain Amberlee Holden, described the night as both rewarding and emotional as they took the floor one last time with their teammates.

“I was so grateful to have the opportunity to perform with my team one last time,” said Holden. “I could not be more proud of what this team has accomplished and can’t wait to see what they will continue to do.”

They admitted that the Showcase was a meaningful way to close out their college cheerleading careers, surrounded by teammates who have become a second family. With the audience's energy and the collaboration between the two teams, the night felt like more than just a performance but a celebration of what it means to be a student-athlete.

Junior Captain Carleigh King also reflected on the significance of the event, emphasizing the pride felt by both teams.

“At our inaugural Cheer and Dance Showcase, it was inspiring to watch all the hard work from the season come to life on the court,” King explained.

With such a successful debut, the Showcase has set a strong foundation for years to come. The collaboration between the Cheerleading and Dance teams not only gave them a chance to take pride in their work but also created a unique opportunity to support one another in a new setting. As the Dance Team prepares for nationals and both teams look ahead to future seasons, the inaugural Showcase will undoubtedly be remembered as a memorable milestone for the Stonehill community.
