Stonehill seniors celebrated their final 100 days on campus last Friday, February 6, at the annual “100 Days Dance” sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement.
Close to 200 out of about 700 seniors took part in the dance. Some speculate that the $15 ticket price is what discouraged attendance. Those who did attend, however, seemed to enjoy themselves.
Senior education major Grace Robison said she had fun getting ready with her friends, dressing up and taking pictures.
“I’ve been living with these girls for three years, so tonight reminded me to take advantage of every opportunity I have to spend time with them, get ready with them and laugh with them before we graduate,” Robison said, who transferred to Stonehill spring semester of her freshman year.
“I spent a semester at Sacred Heart. It just wasn’t my place. I’m so grateful I decided came to Stonehill and can’t wait to look back on all my college memories for years to come,” said Robison.
This was a common theme among the party goers.
“Honestly these have been the best four years of my life,” said senior James Buckley. When referring to his suitemates he said, “I’m going to miss living with these boys.”
One senior, Christian Vazquez mentioned that after graduation he will always remember and appreciate the people he has met here.
The dance was intended to celebrate students’ individual success and hard work after almost four years, but what was actually being celebrated was friendship, shared experiences, and sweet nostalgia for a time in our lives that hasn’t even ended yet.
Those who didn’t attend 100 days, there is another chance to get together. The Office of Student Engagement sponsors a 50 Days Dance to symbolize the last 50 days before the senior’s graduate.
As someone who is hopelessly sentimental, I encourage every senior to keep an eye on their outlook inbox as we await details about purchasing tickets. That being said, let the countdown begin.
