If you’re anything like me, your days are jammed packed with hundreds of things to do. From little tasks like making sure you remember to water your plants to big ones like finishing up that English paper you’ve been putting off all week, our lives as college students are incredibly busy. To cope with the hustle and bustle of everyday life, I’ve turned to taking nightly walks, and I think you should too. Let me explain why…
Over the last few months, they have proven to be incredibly beneficial to my life, relationships, and mental health. By carving out a few minutes where I actively prioritize my own needs and get away from the stress and expectations attributed to my life, I am able to decompress. The absence of daytime distractions allows me to practice mindfulness more acutely, fostering clarity of thought and emotional balance. By making this simple activity a part of my life, I have been able to find solace and peace amidst the chaos of everyday life. I think we could all use a little more of that in our lives, don’t you?
I know the idea of finding the time and energy to go for a walk can be difficult, especially after you’ve been running around all day, but trust me, it’s worth it. Taking time to focus on your own thoughts and mental health are essential for personal growth/introspection. I don’t think I ever realized how much space hundreds of things to do took up in my mind until I physically removed myself from the environment and actively forced myself away from them.
I guess what I am ultimately trying to get at is that it is important for us to take a step back from our business everyday lives once in a while. If we are constantly jumping from one thing to the next, without any time to process our own thoughts and emotions, then growth becomes significantly more difficult. I was able to find this time by going on nightly walks; and who knows, the same might be true for you.
