Letter from the Editor: Fall 2026 is in Swing!

Dear Reader,

I am so excited for you to read the first edition of the 2026-2027 Summit Newspaper! We have an incredibly talented staff on board this year who is excited to bring you the latest news going on around campus. From the new stations at Commons to inspiring guest speakers to the triumphs in athletics, the Summit will keep you informed of all aspects of life on campus.

When I first joined the Summit halfway through my sophomore year at Stonehill, I knew I had a passion for journalism and finding stories that deserve to be heard but may go unnoticed. What I did not know at the time was that The Summit would become a focal point of my college experience. After reporting for the paper my sophomore year, I took on the Sports Editor position junior year. While I am lucky to be closely tied to the athletics community as a member of the women’s soccer team, the Sports Editor role pushed me to be even more connected with the Athletics Department. From interviewing Dean O’Keefe, Stonehill’s Director of Athletics, to connecting with coaches from other sports teams, I deepened my connections with the athletics community in ways I never anticipated when coming into Stonehill freshmen year.

I am honored to be this year’s Editor in Chief of the Summit. I have big shoes to fill, as I follow Maddi Achtyl’s incredible leadership from last year. Leading a college newspaper is daunting, but I could not be more excited for the opportunity to make sure students are informed of what’s going on around campus. It’s important for students to be curious about what’s going on behind the scenes and the decisions that impact our college experiences. I hope you’ll pick up our paper and learn a bit, share it with others, and celebrate the cool things that students and faculty are doing around campus!

You’ll find our print editions across campus as they come out once a month. We’ll be updating our website, summitnews.org, regularly between print cycles. We are always open to bringing on more staff reporters! If you’re curious and inquisitive, we want you on our team! Send me an email (arenz@students.stonehill.edu) if interested!

Happy reading!
