The number of weeks the program runs will be reduced, as well as the stipend, but housing for students in the program will now be free. By Maddie Darmstadt When a Stonehill international freshman opened an email threatening her with deportation she was left scared and confused. “Essentially it said I had broken some sort of visa regulation and that if I didn’t leave the United States in a timely manner then I would be forcibly removed,” said the student who asked not to be named. This email turned out to be a spear phishing attack – a form of phishing tailored to the specific person receiving the email.
By Kyla Smulski As temperatures drop, students across campus are feeling the familiar sting of cold season creeping in. Maria Sullivan, a physician’s assistant (PA) in the Office of Health Services, said they are seeing a wide range of illnesses this year. “Health Services is seeing a mix of common respiratory viruses, seasonal allergies, and some bacterial illnesses,” she said. “At this time, we have seen limited cases of strep throat, mono, and COVID as well. By Emily Ciampa Kristy Barry made history for the Stonehill Skyhawks at the Hannah Gibbons Invitational on September 28. Barry, a senior, broke the program record in the 100-yard individual medley. Her record-setting performance is not only an incredible personal milestone but also a strong start to the Skyhawks’ season. Barry’s final time of 1:00.85 surpassed the previous program best of 1:01.91 set by Barry’s former teammate Sydney Stockwell two years ago. “I think I
By Li Li Schoenfelder In an era where fashion trends focus on a “clean girl” aesthetic, a familiar figure has entered center stage: the showgirl. Dripping in rhinestones and draped in feathers, showgirls captivate the fashion industry with extravagance that channels Old Hollywood glamour. History of the Sparkle: Original showgirls weren’t just performers – they were living works of art, redefining glamour on their own terms. The roots of showgirls trace back to the caba
By Trinity Agosta Voting is the simple core of democracy; however, many young people struggle to participate due to the workload of school, a lack of motivation, and the idea that their vote is not important. These barriers create unnecessary obstacles that weaken civic engagement. It is we students who represent the next generation of voters. Making Election Day a national holiday for students would not only boost participation but also aid in instilling the importance of ci
By Maddi Achtyl Dear Skyhawks, Happy Fall, Stonehill! It is finally starting to get colder, and the leaves have begun to change colors and fall off the trees. This is the best time of year on campus, in my opinion. Whether you’re sipping a coffee from Ace’s Place, enjoying a walk across the quad, or catching up with friends at the Commons, I hope you’re taking a moment to appreciate this beautiful season before winter sneaks up on us. September flew by, and we are just
