Tuesday Truck Day

The Summit

By Abagail Chartier

EASTON – If it is Tuesday, it is food truck day on campus.

Starting on September 8, Stonehill College began hosting a food truck on campus every

Tuesday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m, on the south quad, which is by Cardinal O’Hara Hall, overlooking the Thomas and Donna May Pavilion.

“I didn’t know, but that’s so exciting!” said Samantha Varkas, a senior Elementary Education and Psychology major.

“If it’s good food and different options, I’ll definitely go,” Varkas said.

“They’ll be rotating, we have three right now,” said Kathleen Fitzgerald, the general manager of Dining Services.

Greg Wolfe, director of purchasing, said only one truck will be there a week during the rotation, but it will always be in the same spot around Cardinal O’Hara Hall.

“We’ll try out different trucks, see how the students like it,” Wolfe said.

“I would love to see Mexican food. It is my all time favorite,” Maria Feren, a junior, said when asked about what she’d like to see for a new food truck.

Feren said she’s excited to have the food trucks on campus and believes more students will be excited for a larger variety of food options as well.

Bite University still has limited customization and dining services has had to reel back on a number of staples, such as Friday burrito day where students had lots of choices in building the burrito they wanted at the Commons.

These food trucks are one way to re-expand.

One of the vendors will be selling chicken and rice, another will have melts, and the last will be serving dumplings. Students and staff will be able to use the meal plan on their Hill Cards to purchase food at the vendors as well as their credit cards.

With the addition of tables for two on the pavilion, students will be able to spend some time outside after grabbing a bite from the trucks on Tuesdays.
