The Stonehill Theatre Company has officially cast its fall production of Twelve Angry Jurors following auditions and callbacks which were held at the beginning of this month.
The play Twelve Angry Jurors follows a dozen jurors as they deliberate about what the outcome of an inner-city murder trial should be. The jurors are kept in a room where their rationale and opinions on the case are explored as they try to come up with their verdict.
With rehearsals now underway, the cast and crew have said they are eager to begin work on the production and perfect their performances for the Stonehill community to enjoy.
Cast member Emily Acosta said the show is relevant and “provokes audiences to reflect on the idea of innocent until proven guilty.”
Other members of the Stonehill Theatre Company agreed with Acosta.
Senior cast member, Eli Grover, said the play reinforces the importance of questioning things that may seem certain on their face.
Crew member Chloe Macomber, also a senior, said the production is significant as it explores themes of bias and prejudice especially in the judicial system.
The production has also sparked interest beyond the theatre community. Political Science minor Sarah Duchaney said the show’s subject aligns well with her personal interests.
“I think the production will discuss relevant issues facing the judicial system which is especially interesting to me and other political science or criminology majors,” Duchaney said.
David Ledoux is joining the company this year who provides a fresh and professional perspective said cast member Sarah Shea.
Performances of Twelve Angry Jurors will take place over two weekends: November 14-16 and November 21-23.
The cast and crew want to encourage the campus community to attend the production and support the show said Shae.
Students interested in getting involved with the theatre company – particularly in stage management – are encouraged to reach out to the program director Matt Greene for more information.
