Stonehill College announced this morning that Leo J. Meehan III, Class of ‘75, will be the keynote speaker at Stonehill’s 75th commencement on May 17.
Meehan is the president and chief executive officer of W.B. Mason Company, Inc. and is a prominent local business leader.
W.B. Mason is the oldest office products dealer in the United States, and Meehan has led the company since 1994. Since then, under his leadership, the organization has grown into the largest privately owned office products dealer in the country.
Since his graduation from Stonehill in 1975, Meehan has remained connected to the community, serving on the Board of Trustees for over 20 years and playing a pivotal role in helping the College grow in many areas, from athletics to education.
In 2006, he secured his companies $1.5 million donation for W.B. Mason Stadium, which is home to many of the athletic teams on campus.
In 2017, the company pledged $10 million in support of business education at Stonehill. This donation paved the way for the opening of the Leo J. Meehan School of Business in 2019.
At the 75th Commencement, Meehan will also receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree alongside two others: Matt Brown ‘16, who established the Matt Brown Foundation, and Sister Andrea Lee, I.H.M., senior consultant for higher-education mission integration with the U.S. Province of Holy Cross.
