Students stood at the top of Donahue Hill early in the morning as the snow continued to fall, watching as their classmates raced down the hill on everything from dining hall trays to plastic storage bins.
“Sledding with friends was the perfect way to kick off our final semester. Laughing, racing down icy hills, and making memories we’ll carry long after the snow melts,” said Claire Sawyer, ’25.
Sledding down Donahue Hill on a makeshift sled is a long Stonehill tradition, one many students were eager to continue.
They got the chance on Jan. 19, when approximately 4 inches of snow covered the ground in the area, according to the National Weather Service.
“One of the first things I wanted to do after coming back from break was go sledding down the hill with my best friends,” said Elise Morrow, ’25.
Students went sledding, made snow angels, and looked up at the stars as the snow continued to fall.
“Seeing everyone at the top of the ‘mountain’ brought me so much joy because we all were experiencing the memory together,” said Kelsey Connors, ’25.
Jennifer Livolsi, ’25, agreed, saying “It was so much fun to spend our first night back of our last semester at Stonehill sledding down the hill all together."
