OPINION: Course selection tips

By Jessica Troxell

Course registration is approaching soon, starting on April 1 and ending on April 8. With this deadline fast approaching, here are some tips and tricks to help ensure a smooth and easy course registration.

Tip number one is to make a list of backup courses in case classes that you want fill up. This is important for students of all years, but especially the underclassmen since they pick last. Make sure your list includes the CRN numbers of the extra courses that you want so that you can easily find the course if needed.

While you may not get the exact schedule you want, remember you can always take the classes you need another semester, and if not, you can always email the teacher or your advisor and see if they will let you in (which they often will). Another tip is to look up your professors on Rate My Professor. Lots of Stonehill professors are on Rate My Professor, and the reviews are usually very accurate. This can help if you’re stuck on what classes to choose or if you just want an idea of what to expect.

When it comes time to actually register for courses, be sure to be in a place that has a good and stable wifi connection. Often, the dorm is considered one of the worst places you can be as a majority of dorms on campus are separated by class. This leads to a large number of people on one network in one area at one time which can cause the wifi to slow down.

Be sure to have your registration code ready when time to register. If you do not have your registration code, be sure to email your advisor before your registration day. You will not be able to register without the registration code. Good luck registering!
