This year the Stonehill alumni will be hitting the books again thanks to a new club sponsored by the Office of Alumni Engagement.
This club, open to alumni, faculty, staff, and retired Stonehill faculty, will be a book club aimed at allowing everyone to engage with each other again.
“We were looking to expand our virtual program offerings. Although there have been other book clubs run through different departments on campus, this is a first book club run by the Alumni Office,” Jennifer Silva, associate director of Alumni Engagement said.
This club will be held virtually so that all alumni will be able to participate while across the country and world.
This club has partnered will PBC Guru, which is an industry leader in virtual book clubs for higher education. This platform will keep members involved and engaged about the readings. This platform will also help moderate the meetings and discussions.
“There have been in-person book clubs run through various departments on campus, but this is the first club that has been offered by our office to the entire alumni population,” Silva said.
While there has been book clubs offered in the past this one is unique because it is open to alumni.
The book club will start October 22 and participants will be reading “Half of a Yellow Sun” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. So far, 84 people signed up to date and this book will be read over the next eight weeks.
