On Friday May 7, President John Denning released an email to the Stonehill community announcing that Dean Peter Ubertaccio will be leaving the College and will become Vice President for Academic Affairs at Caldwell University in New Jersey.
“Peter has been an outstanding member of the Stonehill community as an academic leader, faculty member, and mentor-advisor to countless Stonehill students and alumni,” Denning said in his email.
Dean Ubertaccio served many roles during his time at Stonehill. According to Father Denning, he was the founding Dean who helped transition the College into two schools to establish the Thomas and Donna May School of Arts & Sciences.
“In addition to his role as Dean, Peter served as Interim Co-Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at the College working closely with senior leadership during the search for a new Provost,” Denning said.
Along with his leadership in establishing the College’s School of Arts and Sciences and time in the Provost’s office, Ubertaccio also had leadership roles prior to becoming Dean.
“Peter served with distinction in three major positions as Director of the Martin Institute for Law & Society, Chair of the Department of Political Science & International Studies, and Associate Dean for Interdisciplinary Studies,” Denning added.
Throughout his two decades at the College, Dean Ubertaccio has accomplished so much.
“He has been guided by a belief in rigorous, critical interdisciplinary, experiential inquiry and studies, challenging students to expand their curiosity,” Denning said.
Father Denning extends his gratitude to Dean Ubertaccio, and invites the Stonehill community to join him in wishing him success in his new role at Caldwell University.
