Acting Chief, Rochelle Ryan has accepted the position of chief of police for the Stonehill Campus Police Department, according to an email sent today from Jeanne Finlayson, Vice President of Finance.

Ryan has stepped in as Acting Chief in August, when former Chief David Wordell announced his resignation. Ryan has been in law enforcement for over 25 years, and earned her bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from Stonehill in 2018.

Ryan served six years with the Weymouth Police Department before joining the Stonehill department in 2002. She has served many different roles at Stonehill including Patrol Officer, Staff Sergeant, Civil Rights Officer and most recently, Lieutenant.

Ryan is believed to be the first female chief of Police for the Stonehill department, and is now leading over 20 people with this new role.
