Ace's Place now open on Fridays due to high demand

By Maddi Achtyl

Due to its popularity, Ace’s Place will now be open on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The MacPháidin Library's official Instagram page announced this change on April 4. It will begin on Friday, April 11, and continue until the end of the semester.

“It’s always our goal to adapt the dining program to better serve the needs of the Stonehill community,” said Jeremy Weaver, general manager of dining services.

This decision was made by Stonehill Dining in collaboration with the Student Government Association Dining Committee.

“The SGA Dining Committee is a valued partner, and they played an important role, but we also heard feedback directly from students, faculty, and staff, which demonstrated support for extending Ace’s Place hours,” said Weaver.

At the beginning of the spring semester, Ace’s Place began accepting meal swipes, which increased traffic and generated positive feedback from students.

Weaver said the change at the start of the semester has driven a lot more traffic to the library Monday through Thursday, so he thinks adding Friday hours will be beneficial.

“It's a great addition. Especially with exams coming up, who doesn't want coffee on Fridays?” said the Assistant Director of MacPháidin Library for Public Services, Uma Hiremath.

Hiremath said this change will be great for the flow of people in the library.

“With the library being a community space, it brings in more people, especially on Fridays," she said.

Students are also excited about this addition, as they can now get Starbucks coffee on Fridays; some were unaware of the change.

Student Sherri Danforth ‘27 said it “Motivates students to come get work done on Fridays.”

One student, Ben Keleher '26, even said he thinks the change will “enhance the atmosphere in here on Fridays.”

“I think it's great that there's a Starbucks in the library right on campus. You hardly see that at schools, and it brings in a lot of students in throughout the day,” said Kim, an employee who occasionally fills in at Ace’s through an outside catering company.

Weaver said Dining Services will continue to incorporate student feedback into their decision-making.

“Student and faculty feedback is essential in that mission and helps to drive the changes we make during and between academic years,” said Weaver.
